Fences Background

Fences was a play that took play in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the 1950's. By that time baseball was a very popular sport with great athletes such as Jackie Robinson. American sport was continuing to desegregate when the Boston Celtics of the NBA draft the first the league's first African American player. The American congress was starting to to end its white only policy for American sports. This was starting to be a chance for other people to be able to participate in sports without any race issues

Politics- It was the end of WWII. Truman signs the peace treaty with Japan in 1951. In 1952 the immigration and Naturalization act ended any discrimination against becoming a US citizen. The Rosa Parks  bus incident took place around 1955. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in a bus. That's something brave to do. Brown vs. the Board of Education ended segregated schools.

Technology-  In 1952 car seat belts were introduced. I really never knew that, I honestly thought seat belts was created when the first car came out in the United States. In 1953 DNA was discovered be Dr. James Watson. In 1958 explorer one became the first satellite to orbit the earth. Technology was starting to advance in the 1950s.

Entertainment- Television was very popular in the 1950s. Especially when it comes to sports. Sports was very frequently announced in television. In 1957 Dr. Seuss published the Cat In the Hat. A great book for kids and even today.

Race and racism

Pretty sure, most young people does not know what they should know about their race or cultural background. Race and racism is something that everyone should know, especially about them selves. All they know is that they are African American, Hispanic and etc. and know nothing else about their culture. Some say that people face race and racism the same no matter their gender. There really is no difference in how genders experience race and racism.
Almost everybody knows about their race. Either if they are black, Hispanic, and etc. One thing tho is that they don't know much. There are also some young people who does not accept their race due to the opinion of others. They say that they are too dark, too light and etc. Young people do not experience race differently by their gender. For example, in a video that I have seen, a black females mother told her that the way her hair was was too African. Pretty sure someone would say the same thing to a black man. There really is no difference.
Just like how there can be a race between a white guy and a white women. They can have the same speed no matter what the gender is. You can be a guy and be an artist and there can be a women who can do the same thing. Back in history, when there were slaves, women and men almost did the same thing. They were all treated the same.  If you escaped, being a women or a man, you will be punished.
What young people know about races is that they were treated differently depending on their color. That they were treated differently because of their race. But one thing is that there was no difference in gender on how they were treated. If you are human then you would be treated the same as every other human. Just like in class, if one person gets in trouble, everybody has to deal with it as well.

JFk Inaugural Address Open ended response

President Kennedy did believe that  nations can make a difference in the world. In the passage John F. Kennedy states, " Finally to those nations who would make them selves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request; that both sides begin anew the quest for peace, before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction." and also states, " Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us." This demonstrates that John F. Kennedy did believe that nations can really make a difference. A difference that no one really tried on doing because if we actually did, we wouldn't have been on that situation. Just like in the story I read when I was in 7th grade called peace to the world. No one really tried to sought peace between the nations because all they thought about was war and violence, but in the end they figured out how they can work out things together, like a team, that does not involve violence or any of that stuff.

The "Marlin" in my life

I can remember those days as if was yesterday. I would always try hard to beat my best friend in soccer but would never accomplish it. It was on a Friday, right after school when we decided to play soccer in Cedarbrook park. We grabbed about four branches and planted it in the ground and used it as our goals. My best friend Kevin was 10 years old and I was 11, a year older. As we started to play I tried my very best to beat him, but nothing. Another victory for him as always. It was his 20th victory so far and me, none. I hated the fact that he was better than me and I wanted to change that. "What happened John? When are you going to try?" Kevin said as he laughed. He knew that would bother me but also knew that saying that would make me try to improve.
After that day i was determined that one day i will surpass his skills and become so much better than him that he would be speechless. I decided to keep practicing my ball control because that was what i really had problems with. After 2 weeks i faced Kevin again. I started running with the ball and then out of no where he just came sprinting towards me and slide tackled the ball. " What the heck?! Did you just get better?" I yelled surprisingly. He just smiled and made fun of me again. " At that rate you will never become better than me." he exclaimed. I felt very frustrated and did not know what I was doing wrong. I needed to improve.
After 4 weeks I asked him if we could face each other again, but he couldn't because he had joined a soccer club and has practices everyday. I was a bit upset about it and felt a bit lonely playing soccer. Yet I also knew that I must train as well and decided to practice everyday in my backyard. 4 years later, I felt a whole lot better. I have been running laps, trying my best to gain muscle and eat healthy. I feel that I have made magnificent progress. By testing my skills I asked my sisters husband if I can face him on soccer. He was a great soccer player till he messed up his leg when he was younger but he was still skillful. It was a hot sunny day and I was starting to sweat even though we still did not start to play. We played for about 2 hours and I ended up winning. The score was 20-18.
I was excited. Knowing that i won meant that i have really improved. I feel a whole lot faster and stronger compared to when I was 11. Then I decided that it was time to face my best friend again. He was still in a soccer club and that means that he has practices every day. I still asked him if hew wanted to play against me and he said sure. I was excited. All I could think of is the impression on his face after beating him. I went to where he would always practice with his team and there he was, with his coach. " I hope you don't mind if i let my coach be here." He said in a calmly way. "Sure." I replied.
We then went right against each other. I was surprised from his skills and he was fast.REALLY FAST. I felt like I wouldn't keep up to him, but I wouldn't give up. We played for about 1 hr and I was tired as heck. He really made me run. I ended up losing 30- 26. " Not bad John. I brought my coach here so that you can join our team. You will certainly get better there" he said. I accepted the offer but I still lost to Kevin. Even though I lost, one thing that I have won was determination. I decided to keep on training till I would beat my best friend.

St. Valentine

The origin of St. Valentine is unknown , yet they say that there was about three St. Valentines. One was a priest in Rome, another was a bishop in Terni and the last one was in Africa. All that is known is that all of their ends was in February 14, Valentines day. St. Valentine was a martyrdom who would secretly help young couples with their marriage. By that time Claudius II banned marriages in Rome because he thought that men would not join the army because of their wives. St. Valentine did not agree with Claudius II and it angered him. Claudius II then demanded for St. Valentine to be executed on February 14.

In my opinion, people break up in spring break and during summer holidays because by that time pretty sure everyone would want to spend their break peacefully. People break up in April fool's day because people probably take their jokes too far. People probably break up 2 weeks before Christmas because of family problems. An example would be that the husband would not be able to make it home on Christmas day and the wife gets mad. A way of not breaking up is by talking about the solutions that is available instead of going crazy and slapping each other. It's better to think about the positive things.

Personification!

Personification is describing an object with human traits. An example of this is below.

Monday is an old witch who would cast a spell on you and make you suffer. Nearly almost everyone does not like Monday. Probably because its right after our weekend ends. Right when we have to go back to school or work.

Tuesday is a young boy that just came from the hospital trying to recover. Right after Monday you try to keep up on the following day, Tuesday. Its basically like Monday just that you suffer a bit less. ( Even though school always be boring)

Wednesday is like a normal guy going to work. Wednesday is like a day that I feel should not be there. Probably because its monotony. We do the same thing over and over again. Get out of bed, brush your teeth and go to school.

Thursday is like a little kid waiting to open his presents on Christmas eve. Thursday is right before Friday(one of the best days) and pretty sure we all been waiting desperately for this day to come by quick.

Friday is like everyone celebrating new years eve. Basically when this day comes its like a party. Since its the last day of school in the week we are all excited for this day to end.

Saturday is a boring  potato. To me Saturday is like a boring day right when we should be happy that we do not have school. There is nothing to do in the house. Except cleaning which I'm sure no one would want to do.

Sunday is like speedy Gonzales since its a day where I do a lot of things. I do my h.w, go to the laundromat, help my father with some things and play soccer. Since I do a lot the day goes by fast.

Simile and Metaphor

A simile is when you use like or as in sentence. An example of a simile is in a poem below.
I want to be free

I want to be free
Like a kite, Dancing in the sky.

I want to be free
Like a wind, Blowing over the sky.

I want to be free
Like a balloon, Going up to the sky.

I want to be free
Like a plane, Roaming above the sky.

I want to be free
Like a bird, Flying trough the morning sky.

I want to be free
Like a cloud, Trampling trough the mild sky.
I want to be free
Like a sun, Watching the world from the sky.

I want to be free
Like a moon, Hanging and smile in the dark sky..

I want to be free
Like a rainbow, Darting high to the sky..

I want to be free
Like a child, Dreaming about the endless sky..

To be free; Wondering about the sky.
A simile is an important part of literature because its describes how the writer sees the object by comparing it to another object while using like or ast. When the reader sees that then they would understand what the writer is trying to describe to them.

Metaphor is a comparison without using like or as. An example of a metaphor is below.

Peace

The wind is now
a roaring, smashing
monster of destruction,
raking all man's work
from the valleys,
from the vales,
and sends them spinning,
broken flying -

but all of that is
not its core,

its center is in truth
eternal stillness
bright blue skies
and all you hear
are gentle whispers
far away
and unimportant.

A metaphor is an important part to literature because its the same as with simile, just that it describes the object or person more simple without using like or as.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Without the voice of Dr.King, people back then and all of us today would be suffering. In the night before Dr.King died he said, "But I want you to know tonight that we as people will get to the promised land." Dr.king hoped and believed that sooner or later things were going to change at least the way he would want it knowing his death was near. If Dr.king came to my classroom tomorrow he would be proud about what he had accomplished and sacrificed for but a bit upset about the errors people are making now.
What he really wanted was for all people to be equal. No matter what race, color, or religion you are, we were all human beings. Back then people was not treated equally among each other and Dr.King wanted to change that. At the end he had accomplished what he had wanted. For all people to be treated equally. That is something that Dr.King would be proud from his accomplishments  if he had still been alive today.
People now are making somewhat of errors through out their lives. Something that Dr.King would not like. There are people who do not behave, let their pants sag, graffiti all over the place, more violence. Usually most of the actions people make reflects them selves. People sagging their pants is not really something that someone would consider as "cool". That is just disgusting and pretty sure Dr.King would feel the same. I am sure that if Dr.King would see something that is not right, he would make sure he would stop it just how he was willing to give people equal rights.
Dr.King played his part and now its time to play ours. In order to make it to the promised land we must try our best to fix the problems that we are currently having now around the world. It is our turn now to make a huge difference just like how Dr.King did. If we do nothing then we will definitely not make it to the promised land and live our life all miserably. If Dr.King came to my classroom he would be proud but a bit upset but I also have a feeling that he would believe that there would be someone to make a difference.

Hyperbole in a poem

What is a Hyperbole and why is it an important part of writing?

Hyperbole is when you exaggerate the way you feel about something. Hyperbole is an important part of writing because it expresses how the writer sees or feels about the object or person. Like it would help you imagine more of what the writer is trying to tell you. An example of hyperbole is underlined in a poem below.

Three days into the journey
I lost the Inca Trail
and scrambled around the Andes
in a growing panic
when on a hillside below snowline
I met a farmer who pointed the way--
Machu Picchu allá, he said.
He knew where I wanted to go.
From my pack I pulled out an orange.
It seemed to catch fire
in that high blue Andean sky.
I gave it to him.
He had been digging in a garden,
turning up clumps of earth,
some odd, misshapen nuggets,
some potatoes.
He handed me one,
a potato the size of the orange
looking as if it had been in the ground
a hundred years,
a potato I carried with me
until at last I stood gazing down
on the Urubamba valley,
peaks rising out of the jungle into clouds,
and there among the mists
was the Temple of the Sun
and the Lost City of the Incas.
Looking back now, all these years later,
what I remember most,
what matters to me most,
was that farmer, alone on his hillside,
who gave me a potato,
a potato with its peasant face,
its lumps and lunar craters,
a potato that fit perfectly in my hand,
a potato that consoled me as I walked,
told me not to fear,
held me close to the earth,
the potato I put in a pot that night,
the potato I boiled above Machu Picchu,
the patient, gnarled potato
I ate.

Baby Turtle Apocalypse =O

It was around 8 pm and I was starting to get tired. Had a rough day at school and had to study for a geometry test tomorrow. I had 2 choices, go to bed or study. I was too tired to want to study for the test, I already had a good grade anyway, so I was like ehh, what the heck. I went straight to my room and the first thing I did was to lay down, all relaxed in my bed. I was laying there for a while now and then all I was seeing is complete darkness. "What could this mean and what is going on ?" I said. After a minute of complete darkness I finally saw a pitch of light. I started walking closer to it and the more i walked the larger the light became. As I finally reached it all I saw was sand and the ocean. As I stood up, I got worried and had no clue on where  I was. I looked around to see if there were any people, but nothing. As I turned to the left all I saw was more sand and turtles. I went towards them and out of nowhere a whole lot of baby turtles came out of the sand and headed towards the ocean. "I wonder where they will head to" I said and as I looked where the turtles were heading I could see a gigantic figure, shaped more of a mountain. "Whoahhh" I yelled and most of the baby turtles were heading to that direction.

After a while of staring at the huge figure, from the tip a pitch of light went bursting to the sky and clouds started to surround it. "Oh my god!" I yelled and a few lighting bolts were shooting from the sky. As soon as one hit the sand a few feet from where I was, I started to run in a meander way, hoping that a lightning bolt would not hit me. Then out of nowhere I hear screaming, "HEY! OVER HERE.". Since I had no idea of what to do, I went towards him and he said, " Don't ask any questions, just follow me!". I followed him and we ended up in a deserted city. "Whoa, what happened here?" I said. The mysterious guy ignored me and we ended up in a bar where there were 2 more people waiting by the door. "What the heck is going on?" I yelled. All they told me was to get inside if i did not want to end up being dead. The bar was completely ruined from the inside, glass every where, and a few red stains which i figured was blood. As I was looking around the place the three people came up to me and said, "Let us introduced ourselves." There was 2 guys and 1 girl. One of the guys were Bryan P. and the other one was Juan Sanchez. The girl was called Julia, and  was very pretty. After I introduced my self as John, I asked them, "What the heck is going on?". As Juan started to tell me everything he knew I was not too persuaded of what was going. "Baby turtles attacking the town? I hardly believe that." Then out of no where we heard banging on the door.

Afraid of what was going on they told me to grab a golf club that was laying on the table and to get ready for anything. The door got slammed opened and about 10 turtles went inside crazy trying to bite out our flesh. "What the heck!!" I screamed as I was trying to run from the turtles who were chasing right after me. Too afraid to fight back I got out of the bar and started to run in circles trying to make sure a turtle would not bite me. After a while of running I was starting to get tired and Bryan, Juan, and Julia came and told me to go back to the beach where I was at first. They told me that they were going to be there in a boat waiting for me. As I listened to what they were telling me I decided to hit the turtles with the golf club. After hitting them for a while they finally ran away. As I was catching my breath I headed towards the beach where they told me to be at and there they were. The boat was not as big as I expected. It was more of a fishing boat but lucky enough there was enough space for the four of us. I asked them what we were going to do and where we were heading. Juan told me, " We are heading to where that huge figure is at. You may not believe me, but there were rumors that that huge thing is the queen turtle or known as the mommy of turtles. The only way to stop the baby turtle Apocalypse was to go to the top of the mommy turtle's shell and we should expect something that will end it.

I just stared at them all confused, but it sounded like they knew what they were doing. As we set sail, I felt like if the mommy turtle was coming closer and closer towards us. It was not too far than what I expected, probably because the mommy turtle is trying to swim to shore. The ocean current was very strong and I felt like if the boat was going to sink. I hoped it did not because I can not swim at all. A few minutes later we finally made it, but suddenly turtles went flying out of nowhere . The turtles tipped the boat over and made us all fall to the water. I started splashing like crazy and Juan managed to swim to the tip of the mommy turtle with his boat. While splashing I saw him go. He tied his boat off and started to climb the cliffs. He knew that no one had lived to tell what was behind the cloud, but still he climbed. As I got tired of splashing, I started to sink. Water was going inside of me. Pain was everywhere. Till I saw I couldn't stand having my eyes open, I was seeing complete darkness. I felt pain and wanted to cry. Slap! "What the heck" I yelled. My sister tried to wake me up but told me that I was acting weird while sleeping and got scared and decided to slap me. As I completely woke up, I was thinking about the dream I just had. I wondered what it meant. It was probably a message telling me that there would be a baby turtle Apocalypse. " I hardly believed that" I laughed. Then My sister came back and she had something in her hand. I asked her what it was and she opened her hands and there it was, a baby turtle. "Oh no" , afraid of what I was seeing I saw another baby turtle on top of her head. I started to get scared and hoped I was still dreaming.

My Dream

A dream that I remember having was when I was with my family in the living room and my guinea pig. All that I mostly remember is that my guinea pig was out of her cage and it was running all over the house. Me and my family was trying to catch it before it would find a small hole making it difficult to catch. I also remember in that dream when both nephews tried catching it in the same time and crashed causing them to bump into each others head. Right when I trapped it in a corner I woke up from the hardest slap my nephew gave me.

When I woke up I was a bit sad because my guinea pig died a few days before I had this dream. I guess my dream represented how much I cared about my guinea pig. I only had it for a year and a half. I wont get another guinea pig because it wouldn't feel the same as the guinea pig I had. My family liked my guinea pig that could probably be why they were in my dream as well. I really loved my guinea pig and that is probably why I dreamed about it.

I did a bit of research on the meaning of what it means to dream about a guinea pig. From my research it said that I need to be more responsible and it suggest to make some experiments and taking risks and by doing that I learn how to not do something. Basically its like saying to learn from your mistakes. There are times that I do believe the meaning of guinea pig because I remember a time I was careless with the food of my guinea pig, but that only happened once. But most of the time I was very responsible with my guinea pig.

A Picture Of 1,000 Words

To tell you the truth I really never thought of this. They say that a picture is worth 1,000 words.  I never thought of thought. I always thought of  a picture as just an image.  From what I see, I believe it is true. There is many things in this picture that can be described in 1,000 words. From what I see, there are soldier risking their lives for the sake of their country. I believe they are in a boat rushing to the front lines. The place there looks open where soldiers can not take cover. In the middle of the picture I think from the shape it is a tank, something that soldiers should worry about. It is very foggy so you can barely see the other side. If I were them I would probably chicken out.

I wonder where the enemy is. I heard that the enemy is on top of the mountains, but we can barely see that. They say that this was a day where a whole lot of lives were lost. I see that the soldiers had to swim to a bit to shore. I would have drowned since I can not swim. The boat looks old, compared to the boats that I see in movies. The boat probably carried an average amount of soldiers. From what I see, what I think is happening is that there is a war from 2 countries. I believe that the soldiers that got out of the boats are the brave ones because they are rushing to the battlefield when you can not see the enemy. I think that soldiers there are afraid but brave enough to fight the enemy.

I believe the ocean is cold, the soldiers would not have liked that. I also think that the ocean's current is somewhat strong from looking at the waves.  I am pretty sure each of those soldiers has a family, a family to protect. That could also be why the soldiers are risking their lives for the sake of the country. I believe they have somewhat of load out on them. They have a backpack with probably a average amount of supplies that could help them in the war. Compared to there, I am pretty sure that it war is harder back then because now I am sure there is a lot of improvement in technology. I am sure that the soldiers had to take this huge radio in order to communicate to base for Intel on the enemy.
I'm also pretty sure that transportation by that time was horrible. I don't think that soldiers         there had great transportation. I think they have been fighting in war by foot. That would be very tiring, especially since the battleground is huge. Now I think transportation is a whole lot better. Another thing they had to worry about were things attached to the ground such as claymores and bouncing Bettys, that would be a painful way to die. Now I think they have a machine to detect all of that. Technology now is helping a lot out there. The only thing to worry about is the way they use it. What I believe is going to happen is that both country is going to fight and kill each other without mercy. I'm pretty sure that a whole lot of soldiers are going to die. In order for them to earn victory in war they need to kill the enemy or you lose the war. I have heard before that in this picture where the mountains are, are where the enemy is camping at. I have heard that on that day it was the bloodiest day they faced compared to other days. I know that there will always be and try to be a "hero" and rush to the battlefield without thinking and die miserably. The one who were smart enough to plan their tactics would most likely to survive. From the mountains I believe the enemy is going to use that advantage and try to kill everybody in the plain field. Since the soldiers has no way to cover then they didn't have anything else to do about it, but to go and fight. I'm pretty sure that if the soldiers in the picture has the technology that we have now, most of the soldiers that died would have survived. The technology now would protect them from the enemy. Imagine in the future how the technology would be for the soldiers. It would be crazy. In order for the enemy to fight back is to act smarter on the use of technology. To me in war everything is managed through technology. Without technology they would all have been lost.

Since there is also fog, it would be a problem for the soldiers. The enemy would use that advantage and kill the soldiers unexpectedly. Actually I don't think it is fog. I think it is smoke caused from many explosions. I'm pretty sure the enemy had grenades and stuff like that. The guns that the soldiers had were  probably horrible that they could have killed them self. At the end of this war i know there would be a hero. There is always someone that would help the soldiers with their tactics that would lead them to victory and safety. Without having a leader of a squad the soldiers would be lost and die quickly. I believe that the soldiers that got out of the boat has earned their victories because of what they are doing, they are rushing to the field knowing that  there is huge risk of dying.

Montreal Quebec

It was around 6:34pm when I enter Montreal Quebec to visit my uncle and cousins. I have to say, it is pretty cold over here, it is 34 degrees. Usually in Quebec the language that is mostly spoken is french. So, I had trouble trying to ask for directions. As I stop on a red light I checked on my map where the restaurant is located to meet my uncle and her wife. The name of the restaurant is Da Vinci Ristorante. He told me that it was a magnificent restaurant with excellent service. Only problem is, that it is very dark. Sunset occurs here around 4:16 pm.

As I kept reading the map, cars behind started honking. I wondered why and when I looked ahead I noticed that the light turned green. "Oops!" I yelled and accelerated. As I accelerated, I had no idea where I was going. I kept driving and driving and felt like I was driving in circles for some reason. Then I noticed  the same street light from earlier. "Wow" I told myself. I was lost. As the light turned red, I noticed a young women around her 20s and I decided to ask her for directions. I rolled down the window and yelled, "Bonjour!".(Bonjour was the only word I knew in french). She looked at me with a smile and said "hi, how may I help you." I guess she knew I was not from around here and figured out how horrible my french was. I was surprised she talked to me in English too.

I said, "yes, do u know where Da Vinci Ristorante is?". She replied, " why yes I do. I would give you the directions, but I doubt you will make it. If you would like I will go with you and show you the way." I was happy when I heard that, I thought I was not going to go to the restaurant in time. People in Montreal are very nice. As she entered the car she told me that her name was Myriam. When I greeted her she gave the first direction of to where to go. She told me to make a right and then to make a left. After I have done that she showed me where the restaurant was. I told her, "is this the restaurant? It was this close?" She started laughing and said, "yes it is". In my head I said, " no wonder she came along. It was not far from where I met her." As I thanked her I saw my uncle. He came up to me and said, "what took you so long?". I replied, " you do not want to know".

Hurrican Sandy

Before the hurricane, 8 pm

As I listen to the news on T.V, I start to wonder if what they say would be true. They say that hurricane Sandy is going to hit us directly. I was never good at heeding the news, so I did not get that much information on it. I did not take it seriously and thought nothing bad was going to happen. As I go to my room, the light starts to flicker, wanting to go out. I did not care much of it and had a feeling that the electricity will not go out. Then I felt tired from not sleeping early yesterday and decided to go to bed early.

Second day, 7 am

As I wake up in shock from the powerful wind trying to break in through my window, I hurried to go downstairs thinking that there was a robber trying to break in. As I enter the living room I see everybody there having a conversation with each other. When I saw this I was surprised because it was very obscure to see everybody not in their rooms. "What is going on?" I asked. My older sister told me that the whole town did not have electricity and that there was nothing else to do. My sister was never veracity person so I went to check myself and she was right.

Second day, 1 pm

As I watch my nephews trying to wrestle like in TV, I felt I was dying slowly of insipid. There was nothing entertaining in the house. My phone and laptop are dead, I needed electricity to do what I loved doing. I remorse not heeding to the news yesterday. If I listened to it I would probably have charged my phone and laptop. As I find out what my lesson is, food in the refrigerator was getting ruined. I wondered how long this would occur and I hoped it would not take too long for the electricity to come back. A lot of trees have gone down and created great damages to people's property. Luckily for me a tree landed to the house next to mine.

The Joy of Life

What I believe Chris is trying to say in this selection is that there are people in this world that is having an unhappy life and yet they do nothing to change that. What he is also saying is that you shouldn't waste your life by doing nothing. Seeking new experiences through life is what you should focus on. I believe that Chris is right. I mean, if I was to have an unhappy life I would do as much as possible to change that. We should enjoy our time in  life before it becomes too late.

He embraced these beliefs by expressing his love with nature. He shows how some one's passion should mainly come from adventure. That each experience that you encounter is what would bring joy to your life. Keep doing the same thing over and over again and it would get boring.

My life has been conditioned to a life of security by my parents. There are times when my parents would get overprotected and would not let go out on my own. Well, it is a good thing, but I feel like my parents should go a bit easier on the protection. If I was to meet Chris, I think what he would question about my life is if it is bothering me a lot, or if I am not happy about it. What I think he would encourage me to do it to find a solution. To probably talk to them about it.

Poems

Leather Tramp's Lament

Author: irishrebel75
Awake in the morning with dew on my boots
Without a person in sight, a day fresh and new
Lace up my boots, another day on the trail
Pack on my back, another drifter without a care
My thumbs my companion, the road is my only friend
The traveling song on my lips can see me till the end
Cars pass me by, I can see the drivers' desperation
But it matters little to me, it's the trip, not the destination
I could walk all day, with my boots keeping the beat
To the song in my heart, taking in everything I see
Where will I sleep tonight, a field or a shack?
I don't really care, cause my home is on my back

Nature
Nature is mighty
Nature is strong
Nature is usually always right
Nature is rarely ever wrong
Nature is beauty
Nature is moody
Nature is smart
Nature always has the greater part
Nature is blue
Nature is green
Nature is every color possibly seen
Nature is true
Nature is beaming
Nature is dreaming
Nature is in every place
Nature is always with grace
Nature is true
Nature is you
Nature is me
Nature will forever be free.
Michael Carlson

On the first poem it talks about how a leather tramp usually starts his morning until night. It also talks about what occurs during his travel in the road and how they meet up with people as they pass by in their cars. This relates to how McCandless would tramp on the road, as well as how he would find food. Chris would always be searching for a spot to stay at for the night. This relates to me a little when I was in El Salvador traveling with my mom and nephew, just that I would have a place to stay at such as a hotel.
On the second poem it talks about how nature is beautiful and wonderful experience. I am pretty sure that Chris would enjoy reading this poem because Chris loves nature. Nature will forever be free just how Chris would like it to be. Without having nature, Chris would not be able to tramp around the country. This relates to me when I used to travel with my parents over the summer. I would really see how people say how nature is beautiful. I would see a family of many animals such as deers and fox. I would enjoy to visit these wonderful places, but i would not live in it.

My Story To The Wild

June 29th, 8:30 am

As I set foot on a forest near La Libertad, El Salvador, I start to wonder how my wild life is going to start. First thing first I need to figure out how I am going to store my plane ticket in a safe place to go back to USA. When I found a space to settle at , I took out a shoe box that I brought from home and placed my money, plane ticket, and my documents in it and decided to bury it underground near a coconut tree for safe keeping. After i've done that I took out my machete that my father had bought me when I was 18, and started to look for wood to make fire. While I was looking for wood I noticed this huge old tree near a river that could help me for shelter.

As I looked up to see how tall the tree was I said, "Wow! This tree is huge!" Then I noticed that the clouds were getting dark and I had a feeling it was going to rain very soon. " I better hurry up to look for wood" I said. But when i took my first step I felt a small drop in my left cheek and then out of nowhere it started to rain like a waterfall. "Darn it!" I yelled, thinking someone would here me. As I was sitting down by the tree, I would feel the peaceful noise from each drop of water and I was lucky enough to not get too wet because most of the water would hit the leaves of the gigantic tree.

As I was waiting patiently for the rain to stop I was thinking of what to do when the rain would stop. Then I remembered about my shoe box that i buried on the ground. "Oh no!" I said and i went 100 miles per hour to the location where I had buried it hoping that my money and documents did not get too wet because without it i cant go back to USA. As I dug out my shoe box, it was very, very wet. When I opened it, my passport was ruined. I opened it and the pages fell off. "Why!!!!!!" I yelled with anger. I had to think for a while to figure out what to do.

Then Something came in mind. I had family members in this country, so i decided to go to them for help. As I planned my next journey I was thinking of my lesson that I learned, which is to not be reckless and to not be in the wild with no survival skills. Then I wondered about the time and it was 1:00 pm. I decided to head to Usulutan today and hope that I would get there in at least less than 2 days.

Pipin : Involved or Not?

Is Pipin Involved In Audrey's Death??

Twenty-eight year old professional world record free diving  Audrey Mestre dead October 12, 2002. Questions People have today is how did she die and is Pipin responsible for her death??  Who knows, but there are many evidence telling whether if Pipin is responsible for her death. What are the evidence? Please continue reading on to find out more.

Fifty year old, Francisco Ferreras known as "Pipin"
suffered from a horrible tragedy, Audrey Mestre dead from not making it to the surface in time from trying to break a world record at free diving. Question is, is Pipin involved in her death? Or was it just an accident. Well, I believed he is involved of her death. Evidence for this is that when he went to check if there was air in the tank that would inflate the lift bag to bring her back up, he did not check to see if there was enough pressure with a gauge. That could possibly be why that the air bag did not inflate, there was not enough air pressure. Another reason is because he did not listen to what others had told him about it being a very dangerous thing to do. Two of his members have died and he still continued to free dive knowing how dangerous it is. Now , his fiance has died and that should teach him a lesson.

Trip To The Wild

Where Will I Go?

If I would choose a place to live a life where there is no one, and where they can not find me is near La Libertad, El Salvador. It is a place for tourist that is surrounded by mountains. I will be where the forests are. Why here? I chose this place because it is close to shore where just in case i can not find food in the forest I would fish. The place is located 30 minutes from San Salvador.

How Long Will I Travel and How Do I Plan To Travel?

I plan on traveling for at least 2 months. I know I wont survive in 4 to 6 months. I am not that great with survival skills. I know that it would be hard for me to make shelter and to find food  unless I bring the right equipment. I plan to travel by plane. Its the most easiest way to get there because if I go by foot or car it would take forever to get there.

What Will I Need For My Trip and How Am I Going To Cover Traveling Expenses While I'm On The Road?

What I would need for my trip is money, clothes (not a lot), a machete, a book bag with a pot, spoons, lighters, plates, canned soup, a journal, a camera, and a fishing rod. With all of that it can last for at least 2 weeks. I will do most of the work in the forest with a machete. I plan on covering my traveling expenses while in the road by at least saving the money for the flight to go to El Salvador and to come back to USA before I go.

What Do I Want To Accomplish On This Trip and How Will I Record My Experience?

What I want to accomplish on this trip is to prove that anyone can survive even if you don't have any survival skills. I would use the knowledge that I already have in my brain to the wild. I love to watch animals such as birds. My father told me that there are beautiful birds in the wild that you will enjoy watching. I would record my experience by writing my experience each day on a journal. An example would be to write the date on top and write what I did each day if it was fishing at this specific spot and etc. This could also help me because if I forget a route where I find food, I can go to my journal and see what direction I should go. I would also take pictures so that when I go back to USA i will have my memories when I was traveling.
